Where to Watch the Korea vs Argentina Soccer Game Early Thursday morning in Koreatown?

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

The most popular venue to watch the World Cup match between South Korea and Argentina early Thursday morning is the ESPN Zone @ LA Live (1011 S. Figueroa St, across from the Staples Center). The place will open as early 11:00 pm Wednesday night for a viewing party with a capacity of 1,000. No reservations. First come, first in.

How about in Koreatown itself? The place to be is the popular front lawn of Wilshire Park Place, also known as the Radio Korea building on account of the company’s big red-and-blue sign in front. This was where a huge crowd congregated last Saturday as well.

The game starts at 4:30 am, and there will be free shirts, thunderstix, glowsticks, water and pastries for those who attend.

Where to Buy “Korea Red” Shirts, Jerseys & Jackets for World Cup Soccer Games

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

The most frequently asked question on Twitter this week (aside from where to watch the Greece v South Korea match Saturday  morning) is  where to buy Korea Red apparel to wear while watching the match!

Calling the clothing stores at Koreatown Plaza or Koreatown Galleria turned out to be unproductive, but a very good lead came from where else but… Twitter!

After much tracking down, we now can confirm that you can get your Korea Red shirts, jerseys and jackets at Nikys Sports at 2743 W Pico Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90006.  The cross street is Mariposa. Phone number: 323.735.2181

The store is open 9:00 am to 8:00 pm everyday, except Sundays when they close at 4:00 pm.

Note that as of Thursday morning, they’ve sold out of the shirts, though they are expecting a shipment to come in Friday to deal with the extra demand. Small, medium, large and extra large sizes are available.
