오색찹쌀유과 Le Biscuit Sec Coréen de Riz. Yukwa! 油菓

Colorful Korean Rice Crackers

That’s what the English label says — Korean Rice Cracker. It’s a hangwa (한과, traditional Korean snack) called yoogwa (유과). To make it, Koreans use rice flour to form a dough into these stubby fingerlings, which are then deep fried in oil. Airy and crunchy inside.

The hangeul label identifies the product as 오색유과 (osaek yugwa). O-saek means five colors. The flavors or variants listed on the package are 백년초 (cactus), 쑥 (mugwort), 콩 (bean), 유자 (yuja, a citrus fruit) and 연유과 (lotus).

Surasang (수라상) is the brand. Net Weight: 170 grams (6 ounces). Available at HK Supermarket on Western Avenue.

Distributed by Wang Globalnet. I take it that Surasang is a brand of Wang, the same way that Shirakiku is a brand of the Japanese-products distributor Nishimoto.
