Olympic closed east from Vermont

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

The Olympic Division of the LAPD is having its annual Fall Carnival (not supposed to call it Halloween) this weekend — three days from Friday the 21st until Sunday the 23rd. Location is Olympic Boulevard between Vermont Avenue and Elden Avenue, which is halfway between Vermont and Hoover.

If you’re in the area though, you can see that during preparations, Olympic Boulevard is closed all the way east to Hoover Street. Drivers have been vocally complaining about this situation, but closing off streets for events such as marathons, festivals, and VIP visits occurs almost every week now.

Fortunately, our team members are mostly walkers, cyclists, rollerbladers, and skateboarders, so it’s not much of an operational impact, though we do have to process more inquiries. Without a doubt though, the locals who grew up here are looking forward to the annual festivities — rides and games!
