Solair by Wilshire/Western Subway Station LA
The Solair has been open a few weeks now. At least the residential complex is, I think. The retail spaces on the ground floor are all still unoccupied, although there are printed signs for Aveda, Choco Prince, Uhap, Samsung Express, Häagen-Dazs and Verizon.
Address: 3775 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90010
At the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue. What you see is the elevator that takes you down to the subway that goes downtown. Wilshire/Western is the westernmost stop on the Metro Purple Line.
If you’re in this part of Koreatown, there are lots of things to see! I read somewhere that this is the most densely populated spot in Los Angeles.
Attractions include the Wiltern Theatre right across from this subway station. Nearby are Koreatown Plaza, Aroma Resort & Spa (336,000 square-foot center with spa, fitness, shopping and driving range) and historic Chapman Market.
There are numerous Korean bakeries and supermarkets (Galleria, California Market, Assi, HanKook Super) where you can get basic necessities, but if you feel you must support Fortune 500 companies, there’s a Ralphs grocery store and a Rite Aid half a block away from the subway station.
Restaurants in the neighborhood include M Grill and Opus. Among the popular Koreatown nightclubs and bars are Zip and the Orchid. You can walk to the mayor’s house in Hancock Park.
Diagonal from the spot in the picture is The Mercury which houses Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Jamba Juice and Yogurberry.
