Shooting & Fire on Harvard & Maplewood
Structure fire with civilian injuries at 517 North Harvard Boulevard (near Melrose) reported around 12:50pm… Area of Hobart, Harvard and Maplewood just south of Melrose is being evacuated of residents because of the fire.
A man reportedly shot three people, then set fire to the single-family dwelling. Still unconfirmed details as this is an event in progress.
LAFD staging area was on Western & Maplewood. LAPD has been spotted as far east as Kingsley. At incident’s peak, 150 firefighters were on scene operating under “Unified Command” with LAPD.

As of 1:30 PM, LAPD asking the Department of Transportation to block off the area of 6th Street, 5th Street, St. Andrews Place and South Manhattan Place because the last known address of the shooter/arson is 527 S Manhattan Place, less than half a mile south of the fire.
Residents are being evacuated as LAPD officers search for the suspect.

As of 3:00 pm: Incident at 517 N Harvard: 3 patients total. 1 approx. 34 yo male + 2 approx 38 yo female. Gunshot wounds. Unknown condition in hospital.

LATEST UPDATE; The gunman and one of his victims were found dead inside the charred remains of the house where three other gunshot victims had been rescued from the burning home by police and firefighters.
The two bodies were found after the fire was out and authorities were able to search the structure.
The three other victims –- two women and a man -– were found shot at the home when LAPD and LAFD arrived. They were all taken to a local hospital in serious condition and are expected to survive.
